In case your thinking about China is still 30 years ago, take a look at this picture! Yesterday I spent most of the day in the city (Harbin). As lunchtime neared I was getting hungry, so the student I was with at the time took me to this huge Food Court - you see only a portion of it - located on the top floor of a large, multi-floor department store (and a very classy one at that). I was in another Food Court a couple weeks ago which was also on the top floor of a department store, a common arrangement here I am told. From your life in America (or elsewhere) you may wonder if there are enough shoppers to support a food COURT in a department store, but when you realize there are thousands of people milling around on the street and food is fairly cheap, it's easier to understand. And besides this Food Court there are lots of little restaurants and street vendors as well.

Hungry?
