Here I am with Phil and Ann yesterday at a coffee house in Harbin. Although they are now in Washington, DC most of the time, they still have some responsibilities in Harbin and are back for a brief visit. Phil and I were roommates in college many years ago. I was best man at their wedding. Phil and Ann organized the China tour I took back in '07, and now I tell him it's his fault I'm in China teaching!
By the way, this coffee house serves Western food and Phil tells me it's rated as the best coffee house in Harbin, though very small with just a few tables. It is situated near one of the major universities in Harbin and was packed for lunch. How about joining me someday? (Yes, that's homemade dessert in front of us - mine is pumpkin cheesecake.)
