Building Boom!

Yesterday morning I climbed 7 flights of stairs to meet with the director of the Foreign Affairs Office (a very delightful lady) and others. Having the opportunity to look out her large widow facing East I counted 19 building cranes scattered across the horizon, near and far.....that's just in this area alone, facing only one direction! Anyone looking for a job in the building trades?

A good part of the morning was spent getting my physical exam in the city 45 minutes away. Most of the time was actually getting there and back, plus some formalities. What an experience! Very professional but some tests unlike any I've had in the States. One I had to lay on my back. A clamp was placed on my left leg near the ankle, one on each hand and a rod on my chest. I was ready for some electrical shock!.....but it was harmless. Anyone know what that was about? (and of course I couldn't ask them - no speak English). Oh, here's another one.....the doctor in another office was shaving with his electric razor when I entered for my blood pressure, etc. Life is good.

Hi Jim! Glad you're there safely and doing well. I think the clamp test you had was an ECG :) --Loving the stories already! Amy
